Former BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover and his wife Madhuri Jain were stopped at Delhi International Airport. They have been under investigation for alleged fraud at BharatPe.
Both were traveling to New York when they were stopped due to a look-out circular against them. They have been asked to return to Delhi and join the Economic Offences Wing’s investigation. The couple also holds a UAE Golden Visa, which allows them to visit the country multiple times.
The couple has been investigated for fake bank transfers totaling Rs 56 crore between 2019 and 2022. In December of last year, BharatPe filed a criminal complaint against Grover and his family.
The complaint led to an FIR being filed in May of this year. The FIR includes multiple sections of criminal offenses. According to BharatPe, the couple paid commissions to bogus HR consultants, who are connected to Madhuri’s family. The EOW investigation involves payments to fake HR consultancies and alleged embezzlement through fictitious transactions.
After the news broke that the couple was stopped at the airport, Grover mentioned on X that he had not received any communication or summons from EOW, even after returning from the airport. He recently launched his new venture, Third Unicorn, and entered the gaming sector with CrickPe, a fantasy cricket platform.
