According to Reuters, Google is considering investing a large amount of money in Character.AI. This investment would assist the chatbot startup in training models and meeting user needs. The investment may be structured as convertible notes and would strengthen Google’s current partnership with Character.AI.

Former employees Noam Shazeer and Daniel De Freitas created Character.AI. It lets people chat with virtual versions of famous anime characters and make their own chatbots and AI assistants. The company is also in talks with venture capital investors to raise funds for the company. The discussions with Google are ongoing, but the details of the deal may change. Google has been investing in AI startups, such as Anthropic, which received USD 2 billion in convertible notes and uses Google’s cloud services and TPUs.
