According to a official statement the Centre government has issued blocking orders against 22 illegal betting platforms, including Mahadev app and Reddyannaprestopro, at the request of the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
After the orders, Rajeev Chandrashekhar, the Minister of State for Electronics and IT, has alleged that the Chhattisgarh government did not send any request to block these platforms despite having the powers to do so.
The statement said, “Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has issued blocking orders against 22 illegal betting apps and websites, including Mahadev Book and Reddyannaprestopro.”
The ED has taken action against an illegal betting app syndicate in Chhattisgarh. The app’s unlawful operations were revealed during raids on Mahadev Book. The Chhattisgarh Government had the power to recommend the shutdown of the app but did not make any such request in the 1.5 years they were investigating it. The first and only request to shut down the app came from the ED, which has been acted upon. The Chhattisgarh Government could have made similar requests, Chandrashekhar said.
