
India’s wealthiest individuals have seen significant changes in the past five years, according to a report by Hurun India. The report reveals that 278 new entrants have joined the list, bringing their total wealth to Rs 7,28,200 crore. Industries like Industrial Products and Metals and Mining have shown the highest number of new additions.
During this period, there has been a 76 per cent increase in the number of individuals with wealth exceeding Rs 1,000 crore. The total count of such individuals now stands at 1,319.
Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and MD of Reliance Industries, topped this year’s list with a total wealth of Rs 8,08,700 crore, surpassing Gautam Adani, Chairperson of Adani Group. The report also highlighted the rise of self-made entrepreneurs, with notable names like Radha Vembu and 20-year-old Kaivalya Vohra.
The pharmaceutical sector had the highest number of billionaires, followed by the Chemicals and Petrochemicals and Automobile and Auto Components industries. The report also highlighted the cities with the most billionaires, with Mumbai, New Delhi, and Bengaluru leading the pack.
