Ahead of the flagship Big Billion Day, Flipkart, an ecommerce giant, has surpassed a number of 1.4 million sellers. This recent addition represents a 27 per cent increase from the figures of the past year. With the sale just a week away, there has been a high demand for products in the fashion and electronics segments.
The digital marketplace has cited these numbers as an indication of the booming seller community and MSMEs in the country. In light of the upcoming festive season, Flipkart has said that it will create 1 lakh new jobs to meet the needs of its supply chain.
Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Officer at Flipkart, stated, “With the upcoming festival season, our committed efforts have always been proactive in furthering seller businesses through innovative ideas and tools.”
Flipkart has enhanced its technological features to enable sellers to use its AI-backed catalog. This digital-driven model will simplify the process of fancy product photoshoots for sellers.
This decision can be seen as a response to its rival Amazon, which introduced new AI features this week that allow sellers to add innovative product titles, descriptions, and listing details.
In recent times, Flipkart has also introduced a metaverse-backed immersive virtual shopping experience for buyers. It offers customers the luxury of trying out and engaging with products virtually.
