Impact investor LeapFrog Investments launches a new strategy to support businesses that are solving climate change adaptation and mitigation for lower-income people.
The private investment firm ropes in Nakul Zaveri to head the Climate Investment Strategy. Prior to joining LeapFrog, Zaveri was managing partner at sustainability-focused growth private equity fund group Relativity Investment Management. Zaveri will lead the strategy with Phyl Georgiou, head of climate strategy and operations, who will be the other Co-lead.
The launch allows Leapfrog to accelerate its impact investing efforts. This would include investments in rooftop solar, distributed energy systems, electric two-wheelers, and smart farming practises.
LeapFrog intends to collaborate with entrepreneurs from both developed and developing countries in order to scale and expand access to green technologies.
Zaveri has over 20 years of experience in climate finance and investment. He previously worked as a senior leader at the Global Environment Fund, a private equity investor focused on green energy investments, where he was in charge of managing investment activity in India and Southeast Asia.
LeapFrog, which invests in Asian and African businesses, has raised more than $2 billion from global institutional investors. LeapFrog invests in companies such as MedGenome and Redcliffe Lifetech in India.
